Food-exploring Product Designer with a published Chinese cookbook.
I am a connector, a designer, and a firm believer in egalitarian access to knowledge. I believe in providing access to everyday tools and products that will help create shared wealth for our global community. I have created a myriad of designs and content that reflects the needs of my clients and my own perspective as an artist and innovator. When clients have their needs met—and the content I create makes a difference—I feel proud and empowered.
Outside of the technological sphere I'm an avid cook, searching out delicious recipes and experiences that change our relationship to food and other cultures. I love to connect with other people over simple food. My first book, Family Style Chinese Cookbook: Authentic Recipes from My Culinary Journey Through China, was published last year by Rockridge Press (December 20, 2016). It focuses on the six years I spent in China where I lived to witness the bustling rise by the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was energized by a community of creative makers and doers. My curiosity to explore China and meet people paired with my love to cook brought me into the kitchens of people who taught me their authentic family recipes and shared their stories. At the end of every family visit, I felt inspired to continue sharing their recipes and stories, which led to the blog and cookbook.
I'm based in the San Francisco Bay Area with over 18 years of experience. I'm currently looking for a full-time position at a tech company who allies with the greater good.
